Introduction

We don't join Rotary for the recognition, we don't conduct projects or donate time and money in exchange for certificates or plaques. We are Rotarians because we respect "Service Above Self," because we believe in the "Four Way Test," and its tenets to build goodwill and better friendships. We are Rotarian's because its a calling.

Each of the 60 clubs in District 5300 deserves special recognition for your unique efforts and contributions to your members, community, and to the world. The District chooses to give awards not because you want or need them, but because you deserve them; because your friends and neighbors and colleagues should know what Rotary is all about. When they see the award, and ask you what it's for, be proud to tell them.

District awards are based on the Five Pillars identified in the Club Leadership Plan. This year there are 9 categories as follows:
  • Membership Development & Retention
  • Public Relations
  • Club Administration
  • Foundation
  • Youth & Community Projects
  • International Projects
  • Newsletter
  • Website
  • Vocation
We hope to award at least one small, medium and large size club Exemplary awards in each category. In addition, we may award Outstanding Awards for categories or projects that go above and beyond. In addition there is a surprise award, with no specific category, based upon an essay entry.

"To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.      This is to have succeeded."
                                             -Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882)
